I’ve been an entrepreneur for over 15 years, have had my share of both failures and success and I’ve learned many things throughout the years. One of the most important things I’ve learned, I learned it a couple of years ago: convincing people. I wished I had learned this earlier and understanding that this requires mastering what you talk about and how you talk about. This is a basic tool for any entrepreneur, as you will see in this article.
In the ability to speak, we humans have a great selling point, that is, if we know how to use our speech. The fact is that language was been a part of business since the early entrepreneurs. Selling is an art and knowing what to say can be the key to success. Also, this has been an integral part of marketing and publicity. Think about those radio and TV ads, and most recently YouTube advertisement. Speech is a great part of this and without it, selling the products will not occur.
Some people are born with the gift of gab, however most of us have to acquire this ability through life. In my case, when I started my entrepreneur road I was lousy as a salesman and I had not mastered the use of the word. With time it became clear to me that part of my success was convincing people of what I had to offer and this required, among other things, to know how to speak and express myself. As I said earlier, I learned this late and I just wished someone had told me about the importance of this even before I decided to become an entrepreneur.
If you’re still struggling with ability to talk in public and share your message, you’re not alone. Many of us have been there and the only solution to this is to start talking, practice and make mistakes. Initially this will be quite hard, you will make many mistakes and it will appear as is this exercise gets you nowhere. However, this is the best practice you can have and with time results will come. Hang in there, have patience and sooner rather than later you will start to see results.
